Learn About Choosing Flooring

In ancient times, floors weren’t anything close to what we know them to be today. They were just a patch of tamped down dirt that was sometimes strewn with unworked materials, such as hay and straw for people to walk on. While traditional dirt floors are still used in some parts of the world, there is a huge selection of flooring options available today. And, we understand that choosing the right flooring type for your home or other building can be confusing. That’s why we created this website. Although we’re not flooring specialists, we can provide you with some useful information about the different types of flooring. This information can guide you through the flooring selection process but also help you identify the right flooring contractor for your needs. Welcome aboard!

Why Vinyl Planks Make a Lot of Sense as a Budget Flooring Option

by Ella Lawrence

Vinyl planks have quietly become one of the most popular options across the country. Not only is it used in many homes but even businesses have begun utilising it in many areas. How can something that is only a fraction of the price manage to compete with established flooring materials like tile, wood and carpet? Well, that answer requires a little more investigation. Here are three reasons why vinyl planks can be a great budget option for homeowners.

They Can Stand Up to More Punishment

Because vinyl planks are synthetic materials created from scratch, they are made to be far more resistant to all the different kinds of daily wear and tear you would expect. From heavy traffic to water damage, vinyl planks can withstand it all while still looking as new as the day they were installed. Other materials, especially wood and carpet, will show much more obvious signs of age than vinyl planks because they simply cannot withstand these pressures in the same way. If you need flooring for an area that is going to get a lot of use, vinyl planks are the easy budget option winner.

They're Easy to Install

This is particularly helpful for large businesses that have big open spaces that need flooring put in quickly. Vinyl planks not only cost less, so you can install more flooring for a fraction of the price, but they are very simple to lay down. The installation process is much more intuitive than say, the installation process for tile or carpet. It also means that if you do end up changing your mind later on that it is simpler to remove vinyl planks to upgrade it to something else, although most people do not do this once they get the feel for vinyl.

They Offer Quality

Many small factors add up to a better quality of use when choosing vinyl planks over the competition. For one thing, because vinyl planks are made of synthetic material and are not too thick, they are very soft to walk on, with no major rattling or echoing. You can also find many different variants in the type of colour and pattern you want on your vinyl planks and all cost about the same. You can even find more high-end vinyl planks that are thicker and last longer, better mimicking other materials like wood and tiles. The options for customisation are nearly limitless.
